Bachelor of Science (Hons)-Network Management and Cloud Infrastructure
Why take this course?
There is significant demand for graduates with the appropriate skills in the design, deployment and management of network and cloud infrastructure.
This four-year honours degree programme will, in the first two years, provide the learner with the fundamentals of computer and network engineering, including skills in the configuration and fault-finding of medium scale networks and connected devices. You will understand the nature of security threats and about systems to protect a network. In the final two years, you will be introduced to the legal issues associated with data integrity on computer systems. You will gain skills in the design and testing of scripting applications for management of a network and cover data modelling and database design including the handling of large data sets. The learner will also cover network management techniques and topics such as software defined networking. The emergence of interactive networks across a number of domains is also examined.
A strong project theme runs across the four years of the programme which culminates with the learner researching, implementing, documenting and presenting a significant final year cap-stone project. There is also the opportunity to take a number of Industry accredited modules in the network area such as Cisco CCNA Routing & Switching, CCNA Security, CCNP Switch and VMWare VSphere certifications.
