Bachelor of Science in Science Education (Hons)
The DCU BSc in Science Education provides students with aTeaching Council accredited concurrent degree qualification in post-primary initial teacher education which combines the study of three curricular subjects with teacher education studies. On successful completion of the programme,graduates can directly register with the Teaching Council as qualified to teachtwo subjects from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, to Leaving Certificate Level.
Mathematics and science play essential roles in our everyday lives, and as a second level teacher, you’ll be securing Ireland’s future by developing citizens that are informed decision makers and scientists that are innovative and creative. The programme is delivered by interdisciplinary team of discipline experts from across DCU Institute of Education and Faculty of Science and Health, thus acquiring scientific and mathematical knowledge along with educational expertise.
DCU Science Education graduates are actively sought after by Principals both in Ireland and internationally. The majority of our graduates take up careers in post-primary education, teaching two of chemistry, physics or mathematics, as well as Junior Cycle science and mathematics. Other graduates have pursued careers in industry-based training and development.
